WIGHT RIOT!

Isle Of Wight punks GRADE 2 have signed to Hellcat Records and drop a new video to celebrate.

‘Graveyard Island’ is the title track from the angry young punkers’ third album which is due for release on 11 October. It follows on from their 2016 debut Mainstream View and 2017’s Break The Routine.

The trio, who formed at school in 2013, ran into RANCID’s Lars Frederiksen, who liked the band so much he spread the word to his colleague Tim Armstrong. The guitarist invited the band to record at his Shiprec Studio in L.A. with him producing, and agreed to release the resulting album, mixed by THE INTERRUPTERS’ Kevin Bivona, through Hellcat.

“He’s one of the most efficient people we’ve ever worked with,” says bassist/vocalist Sid Ryan. “He knows exactly what he wants. In the studio, he wanted to capture how we sound onstage, so we were tracking songs live with a scratch vocal.”

“Although we’re more than forty years on from when punk began, I actually think the times are very similar now to how they were back then,” he continues. “The political climate today means that people see the worst in everything, which means that for us there’s a lot to write about. Everything in the country is pretty much turning to shit! There are certain parts of our record that would make sense were it released in 1976.”
