THE DAMNED – FIENDISH AND ODD!
The Summer of THE DAMNED continues with news of two album releases from Westworld Recordings, following on from the reissue of their late-period return to form So, Who’s Paranoid?.
Fiendish Shadows is a live recording from the Phantasmagoria era, while Punk Oddities & Rare Tracks does what it says on the tin and covers the years ’77 to ’82.
Recorded in California in 1985, Fiendish Shadows features the Vanian, Scabies, Merrick, Jugg line-up at the peak of their commercial career and includes the hit single ‘Grimly Fiendish’ as well as classics ‘Smash It Up’, ‘Wait For The Blackout’ and ‘Love Song’. It also includes covers of Iggy Pop’s ‘Lust For Life’ and the Electric Prunes ‘I Had Too Much To Dream Last Night’, a song drawn from the set of their psych alter egos Naz Nomad & The Nightmares.
Punk Oddities & Rare Tracks features a clutch of live tracks from ’77, ‘79 and ’82, including ‘Curtain Call’, ‘Happy Talk’ and the Stooges’ ‘No Fun’, plus early demos of ‘Love Song’ and ‘I Just Can’t Be Happy Today’ and more besides.
Both titles will be available in September but you can order them now here.
