TIGERS PROWL INTO LONDON!

Italian punk sensations SMALLTOWN TIGERS finally return to the UK for their first visit since the release of their debut mini-album.

The girls from Rimini turned heads on their first visit, with an appearance at Loud Women‘s 4th Birthday Party and The Shacklewell Arms, shooting the video for their ‘Five Things’ video while they were here. Despite the arrival of Covid, the band released the 8-track Five Things mini album in June 2020, but inevitably their supporting dates would be postponed and then cancelled.

Good news came when the band were personally invited to open for THE DAMNED on their reunion dates, which will now take place this Autumn.

The girls finally return to London to play the Pump It Up Powerpop Weekender at London’s Lexington this Sunday 3 July, alongside NYC’s BABY SHAKES who the Tigers first toured with in Italy back in the Summer of 2019 (see pic). An impressive bill also features DUNCAN REID AND THE BIG HEADS, SLYDER SMITH & THE OBLIVION KIDS, EMPEROR PENGUIN and France’s ALVILDA.

Speaking about the show, bassist/singer Valli says, “It will be great to share the stage with so many great bands, some of them for the first time and some others like The Speedways and The Baby Shakes we already shared the stage with. Moreover, the fabulous NYC girls (and boy!) The Baby Shakes were the band we opened for in Italy on our first tour ever… ah, sweet memories. Can’t wait to be in London again. It’s gonna be a blast! Be sure to buy your ticket in advance, it’s gonna be a busy Saturday and Sunday night on the 2nd/3rd of July!

“Other than that, we can’t wait to play some songs from the brand new album we’re currently preparing and which will be out next year. We think it’s the best material we ever wrote and we can’t wait to hear what you think of it. See you at the Powerpop Weekender people! Stop by and say hi!”

Remaining tickets for the event are available here.

THE YEAR OF THE TIGERS!

After a long Covid-enforced lay-off, SMALLTOWN TIGERS are back with a new video.

These Italian lasses made a splash with their debut mini-album Five Things, released in May 2020 in the first bloom of lockdown, but were forced to postpone, then cancel, their UK dates.

Released in celebration of the Chinese Year of the Tiger, which begins today, the new video is for the track ‘Girl Can Help It’, which they recorded for the Defiled! New Bomb Turks tribute on Heavy Medication Records which was released last year.

As previously announced, the Rimini trio will be opening for The Damned on their reunion tour from 28 Oct to 5 November.

They’ll also be playing the Pump It Up! Powerpop Weekender on 3 July alongside Baby Shakes, Duncan Reid & The Big Heads and more. More dates are expected to be added.

TIGERS ON THE PROWL!

Already being talked up on the Euro garage-punk scene, Italy’s SMALLTOWN TIGERS are all set to drop their debut single next month, and will be playing a bunch of UK dates to support it.

Hailing from the northern seaside city of Rimini, the trio came into existence a year ago, earning their stripes playing squat clubs and beach parties, before scooping the support slot for NYC powerpop aces BABY SHAKES on their jaunt around Italy this spring.

Now signed to Area Pirata Records, the band are due to release their debut single ‘Just Friends’ on 27 September, followed by a mini-album in the New Year. Both were produced by punk-blues guru Stiv Cantarelli (J.D. Hangover, The A.C.C.) and mastered by legendary Detroit producer Jim Diamond (The Sonics, White Stripes).

‘Just Friends’ is available to pre-order now via Bandcamp.

Smalltown Tigers head to the UK in early October for a handful of dates, including an appearance at Loud Women‘s 4th Birthday Party at London’s iconic Hope & Anchor. Full dates are…

Fri 11 Oct – The Shacklewell Arms, London (Garageland Club)
