RUBELLA BALLET CELEBRATE SMALL WONDER!
Day-glo punks RUBELLA BALLET and Noel Martin’s MENACE play a special show in East London next month.
The event at Leytonstone Ex-Servicemen’s Club on Friday 11 November celebrates the arrival of the acclaimed Small Wonder Exhibition at Leytonstone Library and is co-promoted by Punk Waltham Forest producers Beatroots Creative and local promoters What’s Cookin’. Further names are expected to be confirmed.
Founded out of the Small Wonder record shop on Hoe Street in nearby Walthamstow, Small Wonder Records was central to the U.K. punk scene, responsible for early releases by CRASS, BAUHAUS, THE CURE, THE COCKNEY REJECTS, POISON GIRLS and loads more, including Rubella Ballet precursors FATAL MICROBES and Menace’s classic ‘G.L.C.’ single.
Tickets for the gig are available here.
The exhibition highlights punk in the London Borough of Waltham Forest and forms part of the capitals’s wider 40th Anniversary of punk celebrations. Curated by Neil Meads of Music Like Dirt, it featured a host of memorabilia in a recreation of the original Small Wonder shop. A condensed version of the exhibition, featuring punk-inspired exhibits created by students from the Creative Industries department at Waltham Forest College, will be on display at Leytonstone Library, Church Lane, London E11 1HG from 7-26 November.
On Saturday 12 November, Rubella Ballet head to Brighton for the Get On With It 3 all-dayer, where they join T.V. SMITH & THE BORED TEENAGERS, BLYTH POWER, ONE-EYED GOD, ANDY T, INTERROBANG, BRAIN DEAD and more at the Green Door Store. Tickets are available here.
