With the rise of glam stompers GIUDA over the past five years, all eyes have been on the city of Rome and its role in the rise of Italian punk.

Now the best of the city’s bands from the past 40 years have been assembled on a new compilation.

Rock These Ancient Ruins – Mamma Roma’s Kids is a joint project from prominent Italian punk labels Area Pirata and Surfin Ki Records, and features 14 tracks both old and new.

Prominent on the album are TAXI (pictured), precursors to Giuda, who featured Tenda and Lorenzo from the band. Other acts featured include ALIENI, FEROX, PLUTONIUM BABY, BLOOD ’77, IDOL LIPS, MAD ROLLERS, psychobillies CYCLONE and WENDY?!, who provide the album’s title track.

Check out the excellent ‘Don’t Need Your Love’ by Idol Lips.

Rock These Ancient Ruins is out now and available to buy here.
