Poison Idea Debut Opening Track From Confuse & Conquer Lp;
Preorders Available Through Southern Lord + New Tour Dates Announced
The first single to be released from the anxiously awaited Confuse & Conquer LP by Portland, Oregon’s hardcore punk heroes, Poison Idea, has been debuted through Terrorizer, as Southern Lord prepares to release the album in one month.
Poison Idea’s first new album since 2006’s Latest Will and Testament, and first since the passing of their great friend and guitarist, the iconic Tom “Pig Champion” Roberts, the loved, infectious sound delivered on the band’s seminal albums including 1990’s Feel The Darkness and 1992’s Blank Blackout Vacant is as raging as ever on Confuse & Conquer. Eleven brand new anthems for the degenerate masses surge with thirty-five minutes of nonstop action on the new LP, its recording handled in their hometown by Joel Grind (Toxic Holocaust) and mastered by Brad Boatright (From Ashes Rise) at Audiosiege in late 2014. Confuse & Conquer’s opening shredder, “Bog,” sets everything in its path ablaze with the nonstop energetic pummelling punk the band has infamously provided the planet with for three-and-a-half decades, proving that absolutely nothing can stop this legendary act and all attempts are futile.
Confuse & Conquer will see European release via Southern Lord on April 6th on CD, LP and digital formats. Preorders for the album have now been activated on the Southern Lord Europe store.
With a massive European tour kicking off just days following the release of Confuse & Conquer, Poison Idea will take their infamous live attack to the stage stateside this week, as one of the prime headliners of Detroit’s wicked Berserker II Festival taking from March 11th through 14th, joining Incantation, Iron Reagan, Coliseum, Full Of Hell, In Defence and countless more, with Poison Idea closing out Saturday’s set. They’ll trample Chicago and Cleveland on the way to Berserker Fest as well. A hometown record release show is now scheduled for May 23rd at Dante’s, as well as a two-week June run through the West Coast US, Mexico and Texas, with a second European tour for the Summer being booked as well as an East Coast tour in September. View the full current live itinerary below and be prepared for more tour dates to be announced in the coming days.
Formed in 1980, Poison Idea became a household name in the hardcore/punk scenes early in their career, and are known as one of the most notoriously in-your-face acts in the American musical underworld, with an enraged, high-energy live set even more rambunctious than the massive roster of singles, EPs, full-length studio and live releases and more, across a realm of labels including Pusmort, Alchemy, American Leather, Bitzcore, Tim/Kerr, Taang!, Farewell, TKO, Southern Lord, Candlelight, and their own Fatal Erection.
They’ve been an incredibly influential act to major performers including Nirvana, Pantera, Napalm Death, Machine Head, Eyehategod, Emperor, Turbonegro and an endless list of others. Soaking up respect from generations of hardcore punks and dishing none out, the dastardly denizens of mid-paced punk shred are in trademark form on Confuse & Conquer. With longstanding members Jerry A (vocals), Eric “The Vegetable” Olsen (guitar) and Chris “Spider” Carey (bass) alloyed by the fresh faces of Nathan “Skinny” Richardson (drums) and Brandon Bentley (guitar), Poison Idea’s Confuse & Conquer proves itself both identifiable and rewarding to listeners who have encountered them at any point from their 1980 birth onwards. Their forceful hardcore pummel is underwritten with dark humour, rage, disdain, and moments of real melancholy well beyond the usual remit of the genre, but it’s to be expected of Portland’s nihilistic champions, proudly unaligned with any other sound out there.
Awesome stuff mate
