REVERED IN PAISLEY!

Much-loved 80s country-rockers THE LONG RYDERS are to return next month with their first new album in more than 30 years.

The Los Angeles band initially came to prominence as part of the mid-80s Paisley Underground scene which saw a rise in late-60s influenced psych and country-rock bands like The Rain Parade, Dream Syndicate, Green On Red, The Three O’Clock, True West and Thin White Rope.

Signing to Island, the band were particularly successful in the UK, where their classic single ‘Looking For Lewis And Clark’ grazed the lower reaches of the Singles Chart. Splitting in ’87, bandleader Sid Griffin relocated to London where he formed The Coal Porters and worked as a journalist. In their absence, the band’s legacy inspired the mid-90s alt.country movement and the subsequent boom in Americana.

Periodically reconvening since 2004, when they appeared at Glastonbury, an offer of a week in Dr Dre’s state-of-the-art studio led to the recording of Psychedelic Country Soul, featuring the band’s classic line-up of Sid Griffin, Tom Stevens, Stephen McCarthy and Greg Sowders, under the guidance of Ramones producer (and producer of The Long Ryders’ previous album Two Fisted Tales) Ed Stasium.

The band return to Europe for the following dates in April…
