RAMONES LEAVE HOME DELUXE REISSUE!
The RAMONES’ classic second album gets the deluxe reissue treatment next month in honour of its 40th Anniversary.
Leave Home was originally released in January 1977 and features such chestnuts as ‘Gimme Gimme Shock Treatment’, ‘Suzy Is A Headbanger’, ‘Commando’, ‘Glad To See You Go’ and ‘California Sun’.
Recorded with a bigger budget than its predecessor, Leave Home was co-produced by Tommy Ramone with Tony Bongiovi, at that time best known for his work with Gloria Gaynor, and engineered and mixed by Ed Stasium.
The album’s sleeve was designed by Moshe Brakha, also responsible for the Rolling Stones’ Black And Blue sleeve, while the rear featured the now iconic bald eagle logo by designer Arturo Vega.
The 40th Anniversary reissue is available as a limited edition vinyl version in hardback book format, complete with recollections from former manager Danny Fields, as told to noted rock writer Michael Azerrad, plus notes on the recording from Stasium.
There’s also a 3-CD version featuring the original and new 40th Anniversary mixes of the album, a second disc with more than two dozen rare and unreleased recordings, and a third disc featuring a 19-track live set from CBGB’s on 2 April 1977.
Set for release through Rhino on 21 July, it’s available to pre-order here.
