Check out the brand new video from East London garage bluesers THE DUBLO and Polish gangsta rap star POPEK!

Dublo leader Pete Bennett was mildly alarmed when the copiously tattooed man-mountain Popek inadvertently barged into his Hackney garret one evening last year. But this serendipitous development, fuelled by Cockspur rum, led to an unlikely but fruitful partnership.

Entering Hackney Wick’s analogue Gizzard Studios (BILLY CHILDISH, THE FALL, STIV CANTARELLI) with ace engineer/producer Ed Deegan, the pair – along with fellow Dublo members Davina Pascal, Wayne Worrell and Leo Smith – recorded twelve tracks for an album due in the New Year. It’s also led to The Dublo’s average YouTube viewing figures multiplying by more than a hundred!

A noted writer and artist, Bennett is also founder of long-serving Blackpool/London post-punks MONKEY ISLAND. Championed and produced by JOHN ROBB, it’s a relationship that’s seen Bennett co-opted for guitar duties on THE MEMBRANES current North American dates. The tour continues at….
