Pere Ubu’s new album Carnival of Souls has received much favourable attention this Autumn, not least with two tracks being chosen for character themes in Fox Network’s hit series, American Horror Story. Taking to the road with their new album in the UK and Iberia in November, the band will also be appearing in the Brighton Film Festival with a live underscore to X, Man with the X Ray Eyes. David Thomas, founder and lead singer, includes himself when he describes the band as ‘cogs,’ working towards a perfection of the machine that is the Pere Ubu project. David Thomas is joined by Pere Ubu’s Robert Wheeler (Electronics and Theremin), Keith Moliné (Guitar), Gagarin (Electronica and Keyboard), Darryl Boon (Clarinet and Musette) and Steve Mehlman (Drums).

For UK dates Pere Ubu will be playing two sets. The opening show will be approx 35-40 minutes, performed by ‘The Pere Ubu Moon Unit’ – a subset of the group that will be reprising the method of improvisation that was showcased in last year’s ‘Visions of the Moon’ tour. It is likely, therefore, that audience members will have exclusive insight to the cogs working the beginnings to  Pere Ubu’s next album, which is reported to be the culmination of the ‘Orange’ trilogy, joining the previous albums Lady from Shanghai and Carnival of Souls. The main show will be 65-70 minutes of the new album’s tracks, along with a range from the band’s eclectic history.
