PARANOID AT 50!

BLACK SABBATH’s classic second album Paranoid is being reissued in a new box-set in celebration of its 50th anniversary.

Released in September 1970, a mere seven months after their world-changing eponymous debut, the album was preceded that August by the single of the title-track, a Top 5 international hit and still Sabbath’s biggest hit single.

Produced once again by Rodger Bain, the album features several of the Brum legends’ best-known songs, such as ‘Fairies Wear Boots’, ‘Iron Man’, ‘Electric Funeral’ and ‘War Pigs’, the originally intended title for the album and inspiration for its iconic sleeve design.

The super deluxe 50th Anniversary box-set edition of Paranoid features five vinyl LPs plus a hardback book, poster and replica programme from the 1970 Paranoid Tour.

The five LPs comprise the original album; a rare quadraphonic mix, originally released on vinyl and 8-track cartridge in ’74; and two 1970 live recordings spread across three discs. Recorded in Montreux, Switzerland and Brussels for Belgian TV, they’ve never previously been officially released.

Also available as a 4-CD version, Paranoid: Super Deluxe Edition is set for release on 9 October through BMG. It’s available to pre-order here.
