NEWTOWN NEUROTICS KICKSTART THEIR TRIUMPH!
Essex punk legends THE NEWTOWN NEUROTICS are to release a live album capturing an explosive London show from 1987.
Recorded at Brunel University, Uxbridge on 4 April 1987, Triumph Over Adversity catches the classic line-up of Steve Drewett, Simon Lomond and Colin Dredd in full flight.
A live set that the band has long wanted to make publicly available, the album includes sleevenotes by Drewett explaining the circumstances of the gig and the recording, which followed the release of their groundbreaking album Kickstarting A Backfiring Nation.
Triumph Over Adversity serves as a tribute to bassist Dredd (aka Colin Masters) who sadly passed away in March this year following major surgery and a long period of illness. The band have also set up a Facebook page in his honour.
Drewett, who has just played Glastonbury at the invitation of Billy Bragg, released a solo album KuJenga Society earlier this year. The Neurotics, who’ve been rejoined by drummer Lomond along with bassist Adam Smith, play the Rebellion Festival on 8 August and the launch for ATTILA THE STOCKBROKER’s autobiography at London’s Borderline on 25 September.
