Tennessee punk-blues guitar ace MARK ‘PORKCHOP’ HOLDER returns with a new album next month and he’s sharing a track exclusively with Vive Le Rock!

‘Be Righteous’ is drawn from the BLACK DIAMOND HEAVIES founder’s second album Death And The Blues, which comes just nine months after his debut solo album Let It Slide.

Once again the album was laid down at Tiny Buzz studios in his hometown of Chattanooga, where he was joined by bassist Travis Kilgore and drummer Doug Bales on eight new originals, plus covers of Don Nix’s ‘Nobody Wants To Cry’,  Junior Kimbrough’s ‘Sad and Lonely Nights’ and the traditional song ‘Billy The Kid’,  made famous by Marty Robbins.

“The philosophy of recording this album,” he says, “was to document the increased live dynamic of a band that has
now played a couple of hundred shows together. It’s a power trio record…

“‘Be Righteous’ starts with an old biker saying. To me, the message of the song is simple; if you lead a dog-eat-dog life, you’re bound to meet a bigger, hungrier dog.”

Death And The Blues is set for release on 3 November on limited vinyl, CD, digital and streaming formats via Alive Naturalsound Records. You can pre-order the vinyl here.
