Fresh from touring in the US, NIK TURNER reconvenes his post-HAWKWIND acid-punk outfit INNER CITY UNIT for four UK gigs this month.

Featuring a line-up of Turner (vocals/sax), Dino Ferrari (drums), Steve Pond (guitar/vocals) and Nazar AliKhan (bass/vocals), they play the following dates….

28 January – Coventry – Arches Music Venue
29 January – Hitchin – Club 85
30 January – Brighton – The Brunswick
31 January – Nottingham – The Old Angel

Support in Coventry comes from ZENDAD, while Pond’s band KRANKSCHAFT play the other three dates.

Further Inner City Unit shows, including a London gig, are mooted for later in the year, while Krankschaft, meanwhile, play The Water Rats, Kings Cross on 23 April.

Originally formed in 1979, Inner City Unit fused psych, space-rock and punk to great effect on the classic debut Pass Out the following year. Although Turner briefly returned to Hawkwind in the early-80s, he’d continue with ICU periodically, releasing a string of fine recordings, including a minor indie hit with a over of THE NIGHTCRAWLERS’ ‘Little Black Egg’.
