SATELLITE PARADISO, the new project led by former PSYCHEDELIC FURS guitarist John Ashton, have issued a second single from their acclaimed debut album.
If you think ‘Angelic’ sounds unmistakably Furs-ish, that maybe because it features current Furs Mars Williams (sax), Paul Garisto (drums) and Amanda Kramer (keys). The UK post-punk quotient is upheld by former GANG OF FOUR bassist Sara Lee, while vocals are handled by Fred Schreck of US early-90s band CRUSH.
Based in Woodstock, NY, Satellite Paradiso feature a floating all-star line-up. While Schreck and drummer/pianist Frank Coleman are part of the live band, Ashton has also solicited contributions from the likes of Paul Ferguson of KILLING JOKE, Cheetah Chrome from THE DEAD BOYS and ROCKET FROM THE TOMBS, DAVID BOWIE bassist Gail Ann Dorsey and original Furs Duncan Kilburn and Roger Morris.
‘Angelic’ and Satellite Paradiso’s debut album are available from their webstore.

Following on from the success of their largest headlining tour to date, plus their debut appearance on Jools Holland’s Later… , SLEAFORD MODS launch a brand new video for their forthcoming single ‘Silly Me’ taken from the hit album Key Markets.
Says Jason Williamson: “‘Silly Me’ is about the long tunnel, the one that has no light. Another week spent walking up and down the street. The quiet tension of your living room with its shit sofa. The unconfirmed nature of ‘doing’ instead of ‘trying’.
“It’s that realisation that all you have to work with is your own failure, it’s the only starting point you have and to ignore it, to dismiss the reasons why unhappiness is still haunting you is a mistake. It’s your ticket out of misery if you keep trying to confront it because eventually persistence rules. Not all the time though.
“This isn’t one of those fucking smug acid jazz positivity yawns. Large numbers of people have fuck all and that won’t change. That’s horrible. ‘Silly Me’ is just one experience over Andrew’s solid, hard funk loop.”
‘Silly Me’ is out through Harbinger Sound on 27 November, but you can get Key Markets now as a download from iTunes or on vinyl through Cargo.
