CARBON/SILICON NEWS

Later this week, Carbon/Silicon head to Italy to play the Neapolis Festival, one of the country’s top summer music festivals.

In advance of the band’s trip, I caught up with Tony James at Dean Street Studios Soho, where he’s currently producing a second album for top Spanish group Fangoria. Tony’s last collaboration with Fangoria led to a number 1 single and album in their home country – and they’re currently hard at work on a follow-up.

The good news is, everything is still sounding very positive on the western front. As most fans will know, Mick has been performing with Gorillaz on their "Plastic Beach" album and tour – and yes, this will keep him tied up for pretty much the rest of the year. However, Carbon/Silicon is unquestionably alive and well, and there’s still plenty to come from the band.

TJ explained: "At this point – after six years of hard slog – we’re enjoying doing only what feels great for the group and for ourselves… and we’re enjoying life – you write better songs when you’re living life. It’s all good."

Mick and Tony are planning to return to the Bunker in August, to work on new songs and "more film ideas" … TJ also promised that there’ll be a backstage video report from the upcoming Naples gig.

It was great to hear Tony sounding so upbeat and confident about the group with the current line-up – he says that "Jesse has fitted right in on Bass, and the band is sounding better than ever because Mick is in such great form".  He also hinted that another gig – a little closer to home – could be on the cards soon… watch this space!
