BLUE ÖYSTER CULT LAND IN LONDON!
New York rock legends BLUE ÖYSTER CULT have announced a one-off U.K. show celebrating the 40th Anniversary of their classic album Agents Of Fortune!
The band play Kentish Town Forum, London on Friday 29 July. For this very special show, the line-up will feature core members Eric Bloom and Donald ‘Buck Dharma’ Roeser plus a guest appearance from founder member Albert Bouchard. They’ll be playing Agents… in full, including their biggest hit ‘(Don’t Fear) The Reaper’ along with a set full of Cult classics.
Although now more commonly linked to heavy metal and soft rock, Long Island’s Blue Öyster Cult have a direct line to the late ’60s underground, very much an East Coast equivalent of THE STOOGES and the MC5. With their cryptic and subversive lyrics – often from the minds of manager and future CLASH producer Sandy Pearlman and PATTI SMITH, who was in a relationship with keyboard-player Allen Lanier – they were out in rock’s leftfield, something that endeared them to the early punk scene, to the extent that they were featured in the first edition of Sniffin’ Glue fanzine! They were also a huge influence on RADIO BIRDMAN and consequently, mushc of the 80s Aussie underground scene.
Notably, in October ’75, MÖTORHEAD would play one of their very earliest gigs supporting BÖC at Hammersmith Odeon, also taking the liberty of borrowing their umlaut henceforth!
Tickets go on sale at 10am this Friday 13 May here.
