Redditch iconoclasts THE CRAVATS are back with their first new single in 31 years. And they're launching their brand new single exclusively with Vive Le Rock!
Originally extant from 1977 until the mid-80s, with releases on Small Wonder and Crass Records, The Cravats were stylistically at odds with with the UK punk scene, but were much loved nonetheless. Founder members The Shend and Svor Naan resurrected a live version of the band including drummer and fellow Redditcharian Rampton Garstang in 2009, but it wasn't until the recent addition of guitarist Viscount Biscuits and bassist Joe 91 that they felt they had the right ingredients for new material.
The sharply observational 'Jingo Bells' plus 'Batter House' are available on limtied edition 7" through Overground Records. A further 7" and new album are promised before the end of the year.
The video was shot on a bus tour around Westminster by acclaimed director Mark Richards. Watch out for a cameo from CRASS founder Penny Rimbaud!
The Cravats play the Green Door Store, Brighton on 26 March with HAGAR THE WOMB, CULTURE SHOCK, BUS STATION LOONIES and more.
