ROCKET TO VENUS!

ROCKET TO VENUS!

East Midlands electro-rockers THE VENUS FLY TRAP celebrate the 30th Anniversary of their classic 'Rocket USA' single with a new digital reissue this week.

'Rocket USA' is of course a cover of the SUICIDE track, and was originally released on French label Danceteria in 1989. It was produced by BAUHAUS drummer Kevin Haskins and features sax by THE JAZZ BUTCHER's Pat Fish.

Formed in 1986 in Northampton, The Venus Fly Trap were born onto the same thriving East Midlands scene that brought the world the likes of Crazyhead, Gaye Bykers On Acid and The Bomb Party. Describing their sound as "Bladerunner sci-fi rock'n'roll mixed with acidic cinematic visions", they've released eight albums, the most recent of which being last year's Icon.

'Rocket USA b/w 'Cloud Lips' and 'Opium War' is out on Friday 4 October on Glass Miniature.
