Ones-to-watch punk rockers MC16 have an incendiary new video and they're premiering it exlusively with Vive Le Rock! ahead of their second appearance at Rebellion.
'Burn It Down' is taken from the trio's debut four-track EP Outvoted By Robots. Produced by Dave Draper (The Professionals, The Wildhearts, Terrorvision) it's released via the newly formed Neverlution Records label.
MC16 believe that music should challenge, confront, question and entertain - capturing the spirit of true punk rock music.
“It’s a title inspired by a bleak look at the future on earth," guitarist and singer Tom Carson of Outvoted By Robots. "When AI eventually takes over evolution, Google announces they are taking over the world and we are all fucked as we become data rather than human beings.”
The EP tracks reflect a view of just how fucked-up society is and its inequalities within - each song offering a strong vantage point on thorny subject matters. From the anarchic frustrations of ‘Burn It Down’ - a song about the relationship with fire; ‘City Killer’ points the finger at the failure of city councils around the UK to tackle homelessness adequately; tales of toxic masculinity and false hopes and dreams of military recruitment on ‘The Sergeant’; right through to the irony within closer ‘Vive La France’ - with the strange combination of power in words of inspiration and words of fear.
Musically, MC16 are a short sharp shock of classic punk rock - a whirlwind of snarl and bite, mixed with a ragged melody and street-wise energies.
Outvoted By Robots is available on CD here and digitally via all the regular platforms.
