Rising country and rockabilly star LIL' LOST LOU unveils a video for her new single this week.
The voodoo-gothic 'He Put A Hook In Me' is taken from her self-titled debut album, which is out on Friday 7 April through Bully Records.
A regular on the London pub and club circuit for a few years, Lou has shared stages with the likes of Wanda Jackson, Billy Childish, Wilko Johnson, The Urban Voodoo Machine and more. She travelled to Nashville to record the album at the analogue Welcome To 1979 Studios with noted producer Billy Livsey and a host of Music City session men, who between them have worked with the likes of Johnny Cash, Chet Atkins, Glen Campbell, The Pretenders and many others.
"Well in case you haven't noticed, this song is a bit of a tribute to Warren Zevon," explains Lou. "There is an undeniably obvious werewolf howl in it, but there is also a stolen lyric from his song too... see if you can find it! I love Warren Zevon, he's such a great lyricist and I like to give credit to the people who have inspired my own writing. I've also been a fan of tongue twisters when I was a kid ... I thought it was cool to write something that is like a chant... 'Bones, feathers, black book, rabbit foot...' It's the ingredients of a magic spell... Like Johnny Kidd and the Pirates' 'Casting My Spell.' I shamelessly stole the idea... But they do say that good artists borrow, great artists steal!"
Lil' Lost Lou will be launching the album with a special show on the album's release date at Underbelly, Hoxton Square, London N1.
Lil' Lost Lou is available to pre-order now on vinyl with free CD and download code from her website and also includes admission to the album launch.
