Long-serving French punks BURNING HEADS are back with an album of covers.
As the title implies, Under Their Influence features versions of songs by bands that have left their mark on the Orléans mob over the past three-and-a-bit decades.
The idea for the project came at the start of 2020 following the departure of frontman Pit Samprass and the return of original guitarist Philippe Agogué. The band recorded nineteen tracks instrumentally then invited nineteen singers from the cream of France's punk and indie scene to add their vocals.
The album finds the band tearing through tracks by The Clash, UK Subs, Naked Raygun, Descendents, Bad Religion, Dag Nasty, Pennywise, Bad Brains, Hard-Ons, DI, The Lambrettas(!), Adolescents and more, handled by singers from the likes of Sixpack, Off Models, Lion's Law, Flying Donuts, Speed Jesus, King Phantom, The Mercenaries, Not Scientists and Eternal Youth, whose frontman Fra later got the fulltime gig with the Heads.
Originally released digitally last year through Bandcamp, Under Their Influence is now available as a 12" LP + 7" edition and on a 19-track CD. Both formats are available now from Nineteen Something Records.
