Touted as the ‘English Springsteen’, Graham Parker came together with The Rumour when Stiff Records founder Dave Robinson backed the former Surrey petrol-pump attendant with ex-members of pub rockers Brinsley Schwarz, Ducks Deluxe and Les Bontemps Roulez.
Gaining critical acclaim and minor hits, Parker struck out for a solo career in 1980. Domiciled in the US for years, Parker reformed The Rumour in 2011, coinciding with the release of the documentary film Don’t Ask Me Questions.
