POWER POP LIVES!

POWER POP LIVES!

On a wet Thursday night 100 rock n' roll disciples are packed into the Water Rats for a night of pure power pop. And you couldn't get a finer example of it than tonight.

The Speedways have toured America, are loved in Europe and show why they are so adored with a super sharp set of pop punk powered up anthems. These guys have all the songs the Records wish they had written. So we get  'Shoulda Known', 'Kisses Are History' and 'Talk Of The Town' - the title track of their recent fourth album - as a closer.

They look like they just stepped out of 1979 too. Sharp shirts, tight jeans, floppy do's. The Speedways rev it up in style.

Then its the turn of Marc Valentine and his fired up, super tight band to give it a slightly more 60s power pop twist. They have virtually just stepped off a plane from a U.S tour, recording at Little Steven's studio, and songs like 'Mornington Avenue' have melodies and pure fun stamped all over them. A cheeky cover of 'Born To Lose' goes down well and proves that tonight, power pop is alive and well in the U.K. Get up to speed with these guys, you won't regret it!
