Parlophone have announced the release of a major new DAVID BOWIE box set this summer.
ROCK 'N' ROLL STAR! is a 5-CD + Blu-Ray set, featuring no fewer than 29 previously unreleased tracks.
The set's timeframe begins in February 1971, and takes the listener right through the creation of the legendary Ziggy Stardust character, featuring demos, recordings from Bowie's band The Arnold Corns, Haddon Hall rehearsals, singles, live performances, BBC sessions, album outtakes and more.
The Blu-Ray also includes a version of the Ziggy Stardust album called Waiting In The Sky (Before The Starman Came To Earth) taken from December '71 Trident Studio tapes, featuring an alternative running order and four songs that didn’t make the final album. This will also be available as a limited vinyl LP on Record Store Day (20 April).
The set includes a 112-page book with detailed liner notes, memorabilia, contemporary reviews and articles and rare photographs, plus a 36-page compiled reproduction of David’s personal Ziggy Stardust era notebooks.
In addition, there is a single LP version of ROCK ‘N’ ROLL STAR! compiling the alternative takes and mixes.
