WILKO JOHNSON has announced his first headline tour since receiving lifesaving treatment for cancer.
The former DR FEELGOOD guitarist plays six shows in April, culminating in a performance at The Forum in London's Kentish Town on 23 April. It'll be his first major London headline show since he played Shepherd's Bush Empire with ROGER DALTREY in 2014. He and his band have just completed a run of support dates with STATUS QUO.
The BBC recently screened JULIEN TEMPLE's film The Ecstasy Of Wilko Johnson, which followed the guitarist from the initial cancer diagnosis, through his refusal of treatment and acceptance of death, to the unexpected surgery which has now left him cancer-free. He plays the following dates....
14 April Glasgow O2 ABC
15 April Newcastle O2 Academy
16 April Manchester The Ritz
21 April Bristol O2 Academy
22 April Leamington The Assembly
23 April London O2 Forum Kentish Town
As previously reported, Johnson's former Feelgood colleague LEE BRILLEAUX is the subject of a new biography by author Zoe Howe, wife of Wilko's drummer, Dylan. Lee Brilleaux: Rock'n'Roll Gentleman is available here and from all good bookshops.
