VIVE LE X-MESS: THE ELECTRIC SHAKES!

VIVE LE X-MESS: THE ELECTRIC SHAKES!

THE ELECTRIC SHAKES are the latest band to be added to the bill of our Vive Le X-Mess bash o 6 December at The Water Rats. We gave 'em a call to find out what their game is....
The Electric Shakes formed initially as a 3-piece in Bournemouth 2014 after Basha (drums) and Eric (bass) left their band and were looking to start up a raw garage punk rock'n'roll outfit. Steve (guitar/vocals), who had just moved over from the Channel Islands, had an advert on a local musicians wanted site, quickly obliged and the Shakes were born. Four months in they cut their first EP up in London at Gizzard analogue studios, followed by some rave reviews (Vive Le Rock, cheers) and a support slot opening for Stiff Little Fingers at the Bournemouth O2 Academy. More shows some, decent support slots and festivals ensued with more recordings. 2023 saw the band up the ante and recruit a second guitarist in Jordan Gray and the band are currently firing on cylinders and about to hit the studio again in Feb 2024 and will hit the road for their 10-year anniversary.
Tell us a bit about your influences...
The band's musical influences are steeped in primal energy, hard-working gritty
rock'n'roll, punk ethos, and a soulful urge to boogie. Usual suspects obviously apply. MC5, The Stooges, Bon Scott-era AC/DC, but also the stomping boogie rock'n'roll of Slade and Bolan, the heavy groove of Humble Pie and Led Zep, the angular moods of XTC and The Blockheads and the ferocity of Motorhead and Thin Lizzy, all rolled into an 8-legged rocket-fuelled assault on the senses.
What's on your rider?
The band's rider usually consists of the usual... Good old Guinness, some strong beer and even stronger coffee. Food wise... we're never that lucky haha.
Got any records out?
The band currently have a handful of copies of our last EP 2019 on limited edition CD for sale, and also the logo T-shirts are back in stock so we'll be bringing those out on the road. Digitally all our releases  - self titled EP , Electrohypnosis album, and 2019 EP are available on Bandcamp to download or you can be a sheep and stream it on Spotify and we might get 14 pence in revenue.
Looking forward to the Vive show?
We cannot wait for the Vive Le Rock X-mess shenanigans. We're super stoked and honoured to be asked to play for our favourite music magazine's annual bash and we're looking forward to seeing some old friends and hopefully making some new ones too. We've got a few new songs in the bag (eagerly waiting for the next studio session) which we're gonna blast your ears with, and bring the Shakedown back to London like we only know how. Its gonna be the perfect night to end our year in style and prime ourselves up nicely for our 10 year anniversary in 2024.
See you out there Shakers!
