THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF RHODA!

THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF RHODA!

RHODA DAKAR has unveiled the latest and last in her series of cover singles on Sunday Best Recordings.

Following on from last year's reggae cover of Marianne Faithful's 'As Tears Go By', the former Bodysnatchers singer and Specials collaborator applies the reggae treatment to the classic Louis Armstrong song 'What A Wonderful World', a 1967 UK No.1 single for the jazz legend.

The choice of song is particularly close to home for Dakar, whose father got to know Armstrong while working as a jazz musician in pre-war Paris.

“Like anyone else of my vintage, Louis Armstrong’s benevolent delivery and beaming smile were ubiquitous," she says. "He was loved in my childhood home, especially by my mum. My dad took her to see him in London before I was born. She didn’t believe him when he said he’d take her backstage. She was proved wrong.”

Once again produced by Pama International's Lenny Bignell at Perry Vale Studios, the single is available to stream, download and pre-order the 7" here.
