MARC VALENTINE has a new single out from his forthcoming album and he's premiering the video exclusively with Vive Le Rock!
'High In The Underground' is the third single to be taken from the Norfolk-based powerpopper's third album Uncommon Side Effects, which is out on 10 April through Little Steven Van Zandt's Wicked Cool label.
The video is the work of producer/director Danny Garcia - noted for a succession of punk films including docs on Stiv Bators, Johnny Thunders and the Fuzztones - and pays homage to London landmarks the Archway Tavern - featured on The Kinks' Muswell Hillbillies album - and the legendary Hope & Anchor.
"Yes, I’m a massive fan of the Kinks! I wouldn’t be here today without the influence of Ray Davies' songwriting," Valentine enthuses. "The Archway Tavern seemed the perfect place to start the video. It’s a song about chasing rock'n'roll dreams and in the late 80’s my original band’s first rehearsals were just down the road.
"It was Danny Garcia's original idea," he continues. "He wanted to film above and underground so to speak! He also asked my wonderful daughter to be in it too, treading the generational path down to The Hope & Anchor."
