U.S. power pop legends THE RUBINOOS have announced their first U.K. show in 37 years!
Originally formed for a high-school dance back in 1970 in Berkeley, California by Jon Rubin and Tommy Dunbar, The Rubinoos became one of the flagship bands of the briefly hip Beserkley Records, formed by their manager, Matthew King Kaufman, alongside EARTH QUAKE, JONATHAN RICHMAN & THE MODERN LOVERS, GREG KIHN and token British act THE TYLA GANG.
Featuring on 1977's Beserkley Chartbusters compilation, they received acres of TV, radio and press coverage, and had minor hits with a cover of TOMMY JAMES & THE SHONDELLS' 'I Think We're Alone Now' and 'I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend', both of which are now considered classic power pop sides.
The Rubinoos play the Rah Rah Room, Piccadilly, London on Monday 9 January. Support comes from 80s Berkshire surf icons THE SURFIN' LUNGS. Tickets are available here.
