A new book is set to tell the story of the making of the classic self-titled debut album by THE ONLY ONES.
Released in April '78, The Only Ones featured now revered tracks like 'City Of Fun', 'No Peace For The Wicked' and 'The Whole Of The Law', as well as the band's second 45, 'Another Girl, Another Planet', now widely regarded as one of the greatest singles of all time.
The work of respected music writer Simon Wright, It's The Truth - Making 'The Only Ones' weaves an insightful tale drawn from new interviews with the surviving Only Ones, Peter Perrett, John Perry and Alan Mair, drummer Mike Kellie having sadly passed away in January 2017.
Illustrated using numerous previously unseen photographs from the period, the book looks at what set The Only Ones aside from their Class of '77 contemporaries, considers the album's overarching influence and examines why, with such an abundance of talent, the band failed to find the commercial success that they arguably deserved.
Published on 1 April by Shakespeare Editorial, It's The Truth will be launched with a special signing event on 6 April at Rough Trade West, Talbot Road, London W11, featuring The Only Ones in conversation with the author - tickets
