THE MISSION RETURN TO TOMORROW'S GHOSTS!

THE MISSION RETURN TO TOMORROW'S GHOSTS!

THE MISSION have been announced as headliners for both nights of next year’s Tomorrow’s Ghosts festival.

Firmly established as the leading UK event in the Goth calendar, the Vive Le Rock-sponsored festival will return to the Pavillion in Whitby over the Hallowe’en weekend of Friday 30th and Saturday 31st October, where Wayne Hussey and co will be celebrating the 40th Anniversary of their classic debut album ‘God’s Own Medicine’. The band last headlined the festival in 2023.

“I have played in Whitby now a fair few times, both with the The Mission and solo and they have always been great celebratory occasions,” Hussey says. “We couldn’t think of a better place than the fabled, wind-battered, cobbled streets of Whitby to spend what for us will be very emotional evenings.”

The Mission’s return to the festival will be in three parts: Friday night will see the band play ‘God’s Own Medicine’ in its entirety. This will be followed by set of classics covering the band’s four decades, with another set of classics the following night.

“Both shows will feature very different sets,” says Hussey. “We will be mixing it up... Fancy it? Come and sing along to all your fave Mission tunes and more….”

The band will be joined by very special guests on both nights, with Lol Tolhurst performing a set of Cure songs, plus ethereal Irish songstress Evi Vine on the Friday. Meanwhile, on Saturday, Yorkshire legends The March Violets return, with Welsh language Gothic folktronica trio Tristwch Y Fenywod opening.

As on previous occasions, DJs Carpe Noctum will be providing Goth-friendly sounds long into the night, while there’ll be the usual alternative markets and other activities for those willing to brave the daylight.
