THE LOVELY EGGS have announced supports for their forthcoming tour, which kicks off in Edinburgh on 22 October.
The Lancaster duo will be celebrating their 20th Anniversary with a mixture of music and comedy, featuring some very special guests.
Holly and David have also announced the release of a limited edition compilation of rare and unreleased material.
Main support for the tour comes from Bradford's Polite Bureaux, fusing electronic beats and punk energy with the spoken word. Each night will also feature a stand-up performance from some of the greatest performers in UK comedy, such as Stewart Lee, Porky The Poet (aka Phil Jupitus), Frank Skinner and Viz founder Simon Donald. The pair will also be releasing the compilation Bin Juice through their own Egg label, collecting rare b-sides and unreleased studio outtakes: “We had all these spare songs after we released our last album Eggsistentialism, and we didn’t really know what to do with them,” explains Holly. “They just didn’t seem to fit in with the vibe of Eggsistentialism, but we’d recorded them and wanted to get them out there.
“The last 20 years have been a lifelong dedication to music and art," she continues. "It’s never been a job, it’s a lifestyle, a way of life, an ethos and a commitment to creating. We’ve spent most of our lives being in bands and trying to challenge a mainstream conventional lifestyle.”
Featuring suitably stomach-turning artwork by Casey Raymond, pressed on neon toxic slime-green vinyl and packaged in a black binbag, there will also be 300 copies exclusive to Rough Trade with alternative sleeve and sticker art on transparent vinyl with toxic orange and slime green Bin Juice splatters.
