The sun's out for the Bank Holiday, so how about some garagey powerpop to get things moving?
The nuggets-stomping 'Make Up Your Mind' is taken from Sub Auroram, the brand new album by Melbourne quartet LAVA FANGS.
Predominantly a studio band, the Fangs comprise the great and the good of the Melbourne scene, including members of Fez Perez, Sons Of Lee Marvin, The Mistaken and The Hybernators, and feature "local power pop savant" Jamie Coghill aka The Jimmy C.
Inspired by the likes of The Move, Buzzcocks and Redd Kross and locals like The Scientists, Hoodoo Gurus, The Innocents and The Stems, the band are specific about the stylistic origins of 'Make Up Your Mind': "This song leans heavily into the freakbeat of The Troggs, turns left at Greenland to make a visit to the Pacific Northwest. The travelogue don’t stop there folks. With bleeding knuckles, it ends up in the fertile garage gardens of late 70’s Perth; James Baker will be your tour guide."
Released through Cheersquad Records & Tapes, Sub Auroram is available digitally and vinylly here and on CD here.
