Eighties goth-pop darlings THE BOLSHOI come in for a career overhaul with a 5-CD box set this month.
The boxset comprises their debut 6-track EP Giants, their two officially released longplayers Friends and Lindy's Party, the long-lost unreleased third album Country Life, plus a disc of outtakes and live tracks entitled Voyage Of Peculiarities. Each of the original releases is bolstered by single B-sides, different mixes and demos, with the whole set featuring a mammoth 34 previously unreleased tracks.
The box set is released through Beggars Banquet's archive imprint The Arkive on 27 November, but you can pre-order it here.
Fronted by the charismatic Trevor Tanner, The Bolshoi formed in Trowbridge in 1984, quickly becoming indie chart faves with the EP Giants and the sinister single 'Happy Boy' and supporting THE CULT, MARCH VIOLETS and various goth and paisley underground bands. Two albums and a string of nearly-hit singles followed before they split in 1989 with and album in the can.
Tanner is currently based in the US working on rerecordings of Bolshoi classics. You can find out more at trevortanner.com
