THE ADMIRAL KEEPS IT GREASY!

THE ADMIRAL KEEPS IT GREASY!

South Coast retro-rockers ADMIRAL SIR CLOUDESLEY SHOVELL issue their long-awaited third album this week.
The Hastings trio, who are described on their label's website as being suitable "for fans of Quo, speed, cheap weed, cheap booze, shitty old cars, Groundhogs, Budgie, Mötorhead, Stray", have the 8-track Keep It Greasy! released through Rise Above on solid red, solid purple and standard black vinyl, with a limited number featuring a free 7" single. It's available to order here.
Formed in 2008 and taking their name from a 17th Century naval commander, Admiral Sir Cloudesley Shovell are singer/guitarist Johnny Gorilla, bassist Louis Comfort-Widgett and drummer Bill Darlington. Trading in exactly the kind of grease'n'patchouli 70s-inspired rock that can be found on Cherry Red's recent I'm A Freak, Baby box set - so memorably reviewed in Vive Le Rock by none other than Captain Sensible - they released their debut album Don't Hear It... Fear It! in 2012 - featuring none other than Groundhogs maestro Tony McPhee - followed by Check 'Em Before You Wreck 'Em in early 2014.
Check out the single 'Tired'n'Wired'.
You can read a review of Keep It Greasy! in the latest edition of Vive Le Rock!
