SAINTS MARCHING IN!

SAINTS MARCHING IN!

THE SAINTS '73-'78 have announced a string of UK dates for the Autumn.

The band, who feature original Saints founders Ed Kuepper and Ivor Hay will revisit the legendary Brisbane punks' classic first three albums at shows in Bristol, Leeds, Glasgow, Manchester and London this November.

The band, who also feature former Birthday Party/Bad Seeds guitarist Mick Harvey, bassist Peter Oxley of The Saints' late-70s contemporaries Sunnyboys and vocalist Mark Arm of Mudhoney, formed to play a string of hugely successful homeland shows last year in support of the quadruple-vinyl expanded reissue of the band's superlative '77 debut (I'm) Stranded.

Originally coming together in Brisbane in 1973, the band released their debut single '(I'm) Stranded' on the independent Fatal label in September '76, receiving the plaudit "Single of this and every week" in the UK's Sounds music paper, leading to a deal with EMI's Harvest imprint. Arriving in the UK in July '77 they released two more albums - Eternally Yours and Prehistoric Sounds - and made an unlikely yet iconic appearance on Top Of The Pops, before returning to Oz in disarray, leaving frontman Chris Bailey to lead a very different Saints until his death in 2022.

“The Saints first three albums rank among the best records ever made," says Arm. "They have been a part of my life since stumbling upon them in the early 80s. Their influence looms large in Mudhoney world. I am stoked, stunned, and humbled that I get to join in on this Rock ‘n’ Roll Reality Camp with Ed, Ivor, Peter and Mick!”
