Rod Stewart plans to reunite with the Faces. The 68-year-old revealed that the group have pencilled-in 2015 for their first shows together in more than two decades.
Speaking to Boston's WZLX radio (via Radio.com), Stewart began by saying that he and Jeff Beck have dropped plans to make a new album together. "We seem to have lost contact with each other, sadly. Jeff's manager was the guy who was getting us together, but I think {Jeff's] fired [that] manager since then, so that conduit has been closed off."
Then Stewart dropped the band bombshell: "I think we have got much more of a chance of getting the Faces back together, in fact," he said. "Ronnie [Wood]'s office is talking to my people, and we're ear-marking 2015."
Although the Faces have toured in recent years, replacing Stewart withSimply Red's Mick Hucknall, they haven't been joined by their original frontman since a gig at the 1993 Brit awards. A reunion finally seemed set to take place in 2012, when Stewart agreed to perform with Kenney Jones, Ron Wood and Ian McLagan upon the Faces' induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Unfortunately, Stewart came down with the flu. "I'm absolutely devastated," he said in a statement. "Shattered that I'm going to miss my second induction ... this time alongside my mates." Instead, the remaining Faces played with Hucknall.
Formed after the Small Faces split in 1969, the Faces released four studio LPs and one live album. Their original bassist, Ronnie Lane, died in 1997.
