From punk legends Cock Sparrer¹s only UK appearance of the year to Adam Ant making his first major appearance since his return as well as the Adicts and the Damned and 200 other bands it¹s as diverse as ever. After last years sell out the Rebellion festival returns to Blackpool Winter Gardens with its most ambitious bill yet that whilst keeping the punk flavour that has made it an international success also sees some interesting additions. With nearly 200 bands on the bill and a sure fire 8000 sell out the festival also boasts fringe events like John Robb¹s literary stage where he will be introducing punk authors reading from their books and interviewing key names on the punk scene, there is also an acoustic stage and a beauty contest! There will also be a whole host of up coming new names and mini legends from the past thirty years proving that the punk scene is in rude health. With countless bands from all strands of punk on an even bigger bill featuring some of the most legendary names on the punk scene for a celebration of the world¹s biggest underground music scene. Punk in the 21st century is in rude health. Worldwide a whole new generation of teenagers has been celebrating the scene making the old bands legends and bringing a whole new wave of punk action to the frey. Rebellion is the perfect reflection of this. Now that punk is re established as an international movement, Blackpool in mid August once again become the epicentre of the whole scene with punks flying in from all over the world for one of Blackpool¹s busiest weekends.
