Original Mod Revivalists SQUIRE have just reissued their debut single for its 40th Anniversary.
Originally released in March '79 on one side of a split single with the band Coming Shortly, 'Get Ready To Go' was the first release of that year's revival.
Widely viewed at the time as the best of the new Mod bands, Squire would go on to sign to Arista but failed to make an impact on the charts in the same way as the likes of Secret Affair and The Lambrettas. They continued for some years, though, releasing four albums, culminating in 1984's September Gurls, taking its name from the Big Star classic.
Still fronted by guitarist and songwriter Anthony Meynell, the band returned in 1999 and have continued to tour, reissuing September Gurls last year.
Now joined by the B-side 'Livin' In The City' the single is being reissued on limited edition red or green 7" vinyl and is available to buy from Bandcamp.
The band play a special launch party at The Cavern Freehouse, Raynes Park, London this Saturday 31 August.
