POPPIES LAUNCH MANC FRENZY!

POP WILL EAT ITSELF have announced a pair of UK shows this autumn.

The Stourbridge longhairs reaped rich rewards during the late-80s/early-90s, their  pioneering clashing of greasy grebo-rock against banging beats and samples.

Dropping fried floorshakin' covers of Hawkwind's 'Orgone Accumulator' and Sigue Sigue Sputnik's 'Love Missile F1-11, their regular appearances in the upper regions of the national album and singles charts marked them out as one of the more importantly iconoclastic bands of the 90s, recent shows proving their lasting impact remains undimmed.

With a line-up still featuring longtime members Graham Crabb, Adam Mole, Richard March and John 'Fuzz' Townsend along with Mary Byker from grebo compatriots Gaye Bykers On Acid and guitarist Davey Bennett, PWEI play the following shows with support from On-U Sound pioneer Gary Clail Soundsystem...

28 Sept - Academy 2, Manchester - tickets

4 Oct - Islington Assembly Hall, London - tickets

Look out for a PWEI feature in a future edition of Vive Le Rock!
