Errant AC/DC drummer PHIL RUDD has been sentenced having previously pleaded guilty for drug possession and threatening to kill.
Judge Thomas Ingram of Tauranga District Court on New Zealand's North Island sentenced Rudd to eight months of home detention. He'll be electronically monitored and undergo rehabilitation for drug and alcohol addiction, and the judge assure him that he'd go to prison if he broke the terms of his sentence.
Rudd's lawyer argued that a conviction would leave him unable to tour with the band, amounting to a loss of millions of dollars in earnings. The judge, however, said there was no evidence that he was actually still in AC/DC, adding, bizarrely, that "Queen replaced Freddie Mercury".
Rudd released his first solo album Head Job last year.
