PERE UBU Announce February UK tour New album ³Long Live Père Ubu!² (COOKCD497) out now Pere Ubu have announced they will be touring in February to promote the release of their latest album, ³Long Live Père Ubu!². All of the gigs, except the London Relentless Garage show, will be the ³Long Live Père Ubu!² The Spectacle show. For The Spectacle, Pere Ubu has devised an extraordinary event that involves connective dialog, electronic ambience, choreography, and animations by legendary film-makers The Brothers Quay. Not so much a case of Rock Music and Theatre coming together, it is more that the two find themselves engaged in a bloody fight to the death. Singer David Thomas stalks centre-stage, inhabiting the grotesque persona of the doomed Père Ubu, beset by the incompetence and treachery of his minions, who are all played by members of the band. The concert takes the shape of a radio play, steeped in the avant- garage sensibilities that the band pioneered. The Relentless Garage show on Thursday 25th February is entitled ³Pere Ubu: The First & The Last² and will see the band bringing both ends of their career together, performing in its entirety their first album, The Modern Dance, alongside their latest release over the course of two sets. The Modern Dance was released in February 1978 and stunned the pop and punk worlds with its vision and audacity. It quickly became a fixture in Great Albums Of All Time lists. "Long Live Père Ubu!" (released September 2009), has proved to be just as audacious and equally revolutionary in its scope and vision.
