PENETRATION'S NEW RESOLUTION!

PENETRATION'S NEW RESOLUTION!

Class of ’77 punks PENETRATION return next month, with their first new album in thirty-six years!
With a new line-up featuring original members Pauline Murray and Robert Blamire, the band will be playing a series of dates surrounding the release of Resolution on their own Polestar label on 2 October.
Check out 'Two Places (Dos Lugares)' from the album here.
Initially reforming in 2002, Penetration have gigged steadily and released two singles for Damaged Goods, but have been reluctant to make an album until now. Completed with the help of a successful crowdfunding campaign, Resolution features former BUZZCOCKS drummer John Maher (a colleague of Murray and Blamire from their days in INVISIBLE GIRLS) plus guitarists Steve Wallace and Paul Harvey.

The album was mixed by original guitarist Fred Purser, who also makes a guest appearance on lead single ‘Beat Goes On’, while the sleeve was designed by noted 4AD designer Vaughan Oliver, who was in Murray and Blamire’s class at school!

Formed in County Durham in 1976, Penetration released their acclaimed debut Moving Targets through Virgin in 1978, but split unexpectedly while promoting second album Coming Up For Air the following year. Murray and Blamire went on to collaborate with Maher, John Cooper Clarke and producer Martin Hannett in The Invisible Girls, while Murray also guested on THE ONLY ONES’ Baby’s Got A Gun and Blamire produced the sole album by underrated Scots post-punks SCARS.
Virgin are planning a box set of the band’s back catalogue for the Autumn.
