OUT OF THE GREY...

OUT OF THE GREY...

THE CLANG GROUP, the band project of producer CLIVE LANGER, follow the success of this Spring's New Clang album with a new single.

'Grey To Blue (Reimagined)' is a new version of the album track, featuring a new string part added by arranger Bridget Samuels.

A founder member of legendary Liverpool art school band Deaf School, Langer is perhaps best known as a producer, working on numerous successful releases by the likes of Madness, Dexys Midnight Runners, David Bowie, Elvis Costello, The Teardrop Explodes, Primal Scream and many more.

The Clang group comprises Deaf School bandmates John Wood and Gregg Braden, plus bassist Jamie Reynolds from The Klaxons.

"'Grey to Blue'… just a sad reflection on the war in Ukraine," Langer ruminates. "It’s quite naive really, the sorry state of our world at the moment. I wanted to re-record the track because I always thought it to have cinematic potential, so this is the ‘Technicolor’ version. I roped Bridget Samuels (I’d worked with her on some Fat White Family tracks) in to write a string arrangement. The strings completely transformed the track into 3D and created new challenges in blending into The Clang backing track. It worked! Jamie wasn’t available so Mark ‘Bedders’ Bedford kindly played bass. The last time he played on one of my songs was the Robert Wyatt version of Shipbuilding!!"

'Grey To Blue (Reimagined)' is available now from Spotify and Bandcamp.

Released through Fretsore Records, New Clang is available here.
