NOT RAVING BUT SHOUTING - BRINSLEY SCHWARZ RETURNS!

Pub rock legend BRINSLEY SCHWARZ has unveiled a single and video from his brand new album.

Written as a warning of trouble ahead, 'Nothing Is What It Seems' is taken from the guitarist's third solo album Shouting At The Moon, which was released last month through Fretsore Records and follows on from 2021's Tangled and 2016's Unexpected.

A co-founder with Nick Lowe of the band Brinsley Schwarz, who  became pioneers of the early-70s London pub rock scene, releasing five albums for United Artists, Brinsley himself joined fellow pub rockers Ducks Deluxe before co-founding The Rumour to back singer/songwriter Graham Parker. The guitarist recently joined his Rumour bandmates and Lowe at Putney Half Moon to celebrate the life of recently departed Brinsley Schwarz keyboard-player Bob Andrews.

Produced by Waterboys keyboard-player James Hallawell, the songwriting on Shouting At The Moon's had a long gestation period, featuring songs dating back nearly thirty years. “I wrote ‘The Chance’, ‘Nothing Is What It Seems’ and ‘What In The World’ sometime between the late 1990s and early 2005,” Schwarz explains. “‘Hard To Change’ and ‘It’s Been A Long Year’ were written during 2024 and 2025 and recorded during that time. So you can see a big spread in time of writing and recording; some songs were recorded and were intended for my first solo album. But we had a surplus of recorded tracks and so we could pick tracks based on how the songs seemed to gel together as an entity, as an album.”

'Nothing Is What It Seems' is available now on Spotify.
