Announces details of Record Store Day single:
Rollin’ and Tumblin’ 10” Single
On Saturday 19th April, as part of Record Store Day, Parlophone Records will release a limited, one-off Richard Hawley single.
Rollin’ and Tumblin’ is a hypnotic bastardisation of an old delta blues standard, originally recorded by such artists as Elmore James, Muddy Waters and Robert Johnson. Richard and his band have taken the song and given it a swampy blues, psychedelic make-over, so much so, you can almost smell the molasses. It’s that goddam heavy.
Richard says of releasing Rollin’ and Tumblin’ for Record Store Day: “vinyl has been a constant throughout my whole life and knowing there's a special day celebrating it and the joy of the ‘artifact’ really floats my boat.” Adding, “to be a small part in trying to keep record shops going is mint. Record shops have kept me going for so long it’s time to pay a little of that back. Not to mention it gave me and the guys a chance to try something a bit different. Long live vinyl!”
The song was recorded at Sheffield’s Yellow Arch Studios, by: Richard (Silvertone Fuzz guitar, co-producer), Colin Elliot (bass, co-producer), Dean Beresford (drums), Shez Sheridan (Baritone guitar), Jon Trier (keyboards) and Clive Morgan (harmonica).
Rollin’ and Tumblin’ will be available on 10-inch only:
A. Rollin’ and Tumblin’
B. (etched Parlophone logo)
This will be Richard’s first new material since his Mercury Awards nominated, number 3 album ‘Standing At The Sky’s Edge’.
