US art-punks THE MUTANTS are to have their first ever archival compilation released this Summer.
Formed in 1977, the Bay Area band were staples on the San Francisco punk circuit, renowned for their infamous and theatrical live shows, releasing their debut EP on iconic SF punk label 415 Records in 1980.
"We came after Crime, the Nuns, the Avengers, and the Dils, and before the Dead Kennedys, the Sleepers, and Flipper," says guitarist John Gullak.
Releasing their sole album Fun Terminal in 1982, they'd splintered by the mid-80s, but have regrouped periodically in various configurations for live shows ever since.
Curse Of The Easily Amused features 14 tracks, including eight songs which have never been previously released on vinyl or CD. "The Mutants discarded or forgot about a ridiculous amount of music during its first eight years," says current Mutants bassist and project producer Peter Conheim. "Audio quality for all the tracks here is superior to anything that's come before. No overdubs were used in preparing this release."
