Fresh from supporting old muckers The Damned at The Roundhouse, JOHNNY MOPED are about to release their first 7” single since 1978!
The limited edition double A-side ‘Ain’t No Rock N Roll Rookie’ and ‘Super Woofa’ is out on 31 July but you can pre-order it now from Damaged Goods.
The band are currently in the studio preparing their long-awaited new album for release later in the year, but before that they’ll be making their first ever appearance at the Rebellion Festival in August.
Originally coming together in Croydon in 1974 and at one time or another featuring Captain Sensible and Chrissie Hynde in their line-up, Johnny Moped were one of the first bands to play London’s legendary punk venue, The Roxy, their classic ‘Hard Lovin’ Man’ featuring on the Live At The Roxy WC2 compilation.
Releasing one album, Cycledelic, on Chiswick before splitting up, they returned in 1990 with The Search For Xerxes. They were the subject of a documentary film Basically Johnny Moped by director Fred Burns in 2013. Watch the trailer for the film here.
