Burmese punk band THE REBEL RIOT are set to hit the UK! And a crowdfunding page has been set up to help them do it.
The band will be familiar to anyone who caught the film My Buddha Is Punk by director Andreas Hartmann at last year's Doc'n'Roll Film Festival.
Formed in Yangon, Myanmar (Burma), formed in 2007 after the Saffron Revolution, over the past ten years The Rebel Riot have captured the world's attention with their outspoken music that mixes anarchist-punk politics with their own take on Buddhist philosophy, and they've put their ideals into action forming the Yangon chapter of Food Not Bombs, feeding the city's homeless.
Now the Punk Ethics collective, who promote the progressive elements of the global punk scene, have set up a crowdfunding campaign to raise £5,000 bring the band to the UK to tour alongside screenings of the film. Visit the page and donate here.
